MT.PLEASANT, SC - College of Charleston, ranked 28th nationally, used a three-run sixth inning to overcome a 9-8 deficit and went on to a 11-9 victory over Charleston Southern in non-conference action at Patriot's Point Field on Wednesday night.

College of Charleston improved to 21-5 on the season and moved to 2-0 against the Buccaneers this season. Charleston Southern fell to 10-20 on the season and entertains High Point in a three-game Big South Conference series this weekend.

The teams combined for 28 hits, 14 each, but CSU was hurt by five errors defensively, leading to five unearned runs. Buccaneer leftfielder Justin Fyle went three-for-four with a pair of homeruns and four RBI to lead the way offensively. Fyle has nine hits in his last 12 at bats with eight RBI over the last three games.

CSU struck first with a run in the first but found themselves trailing, 4-1, after two innings. The Buccaneers plated three runs in the third to tie the game at four but the Cougars scored two in the bottom of the third for a 6-4 lead.

Charleston Southern answered with two runs to tie the game at six in the top of the fourth but College of Charleston took an 8-6 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Charleston Southern took a 9-8 lead with two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth before the Cougars regained the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Wes Brundridge, David Perkins, Lionel Greene, Chris Krogmeier and Mark Perry all tallied two hits each for the Buccaneers.

Freshman Brandon Roberts took the loss and dropped to 1-2 on the season. Brendan Stines earned the win, improving to 2-0, in just 1/3 innings of work.
