ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Junior catcher John-Mark Cleaveland drove in a career-high six runs to propel the Charleston Southern Buccaneers to a 10-4 win over UNC Asheville in Big South Conference baseball action on Saturday afternoon.
Charleston Southern (12-25, 6-8) evened the series at a game each with the rubber game coming on Sunday afternoon.
Cleaveland led CSU with three hits as the Buccaneers pounded out 18 safeties in the game. Junior Wes Brundridge and junior Chris Krogmeier also had three hits, with Brundridge hitting his fourth homerun of the season. Picking up two hits each were Justin Fyle, Ryan Smart, Anthony Hayes and Sean Doherty.
Senior Ryan Sowers earned the victory, improving to 4-3 on the season. Sowers allowed five hits and two earned runs in six innings of work. Sophomore Payton Tweddale finished the game, allowing two hits and a run over the final three innings.
