Baseball Bucs fall to Savannah State, 8-3April 18, 2006By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. - Savannah State pounded out 15 hits and scored in three consecutive innings to defeat Charleston Southern, 8-3, at Buccaneer Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Savannah State, winners of nine straight games, improved to 25-14 overall while Charleston Southern dropped to 14-29 overall. Charleston Southern plays at 21st-ranked College of Charleston on Wednesday night.
Savannah State's Marlon Cortes allowed two earned runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings to notch the win, improving to 8-4 on the season.
CSU starter DJ Throneburg (1-5) took the loss, allowing three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings of work.
First baseman Jonathan Keane led the Tigers with three hits while four other Tigers tallied two hits each.
CSU managed only five hits in the game, one by rightfielder Wes Brundridge to extend his hitting streak to 16 consecutive games.
