ORLANDO, Fla. - Shawn Hall birdied the final hole to complete the first round of the NCAA East Regional at +1 (73), Thursday at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club.
After starting on the 10th hole, Hall shot par on the first five holes before two consecutive bogeys put him at +2 (38) on the back nine.
Hall lost another stroke on hole one to start the second nine, but would gain them back, grabbing birdies on the fifth and ninth holes, getting back to +1 for the day.
The leader, Jonathan Jackson of North Carolina, came in at -6, but there is a log jam following the top five individuals. Twelve golfers finished the day at even par, all finishing in a tie for 15th place. Hall is part of another 12-person tie at +1 after the first round.
Round two will start at 7 a.m. Friday. Those interested in tracking the championships live can log on to www.golfstat.com.
