CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charleston Southern junior outfielder Justin Fyle and junior designated hitter David Perkins were selected to the second-team of the 2006 Big South All-Conference baseball team, announced on Wednesday night as part of the opening day of the 2006 conference tournament.
Fyle finished among the top 10 in the league in several statistical categories, including hits, average, homeruns and RBI. The 6-1, 180-pounder from Chapel Hill, North Carolina batted .352 with eight homeruns, 46 RBI, 11 doubles and 48 runs scored. His 80 hits were a CSU single-season record. Fyle also posted a .515 slugging percentage and a .441 on-base-percentage for the 2006 season.
Perkins, a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, finished third on the Bucs in hitting with a .302 batting average. He also belted a career-high six homeruns with 30 RBI and a team-leading 13 doubles. Perkins posted a .494 slugging percentage. Though he graduated in May, Perkins, who red-shirted his freshman year, will return in 2007 for his final year of eligibility.
