CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Bucs scored early and often as they scored in all but one inning, beating Delaware State 11-2, in the second game of a three-game series, Saturday afternoon at Buccaneer Field.
For the second time this week, Wes Brundridge started the game out with a bang as he gave Charleston Southern (3-0) a 1-0 lead with a leadoff homerun en route to an 11-2 win over Delaware State (0-2).
The rest of the Buccaneers followed suite as they combined for 13 hits. Left fielder Justin Fyle, and third baseman Will Rodriguez each had 3 hits on the day, including a double by Rodriguez. Catcher Stephen Herzog sent one over the left field wall in the 6th inning to lift the Bucs to 9-2 in the sixth.
The Buccaneers had five stolen bases on the day. Three of the five belonged to senior Chris Krogmeier who stole second and third in the third inning.
D.J. Throneburg (1-0) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits for the win. Juniors Cody Higgins and Payton Tweddale combined to pitch four scoreless innings for the Bucs.
