CONWAY, S.C. – The Bucs struggled against the strong pitching of CCU, getting just three hits, and getting shut out for the second time all season as they fell 10-0, Sunday at Watson Stadium.

Justin Fyle, Stephen Herzog and Chris Krogmeier each had a hit for CSU, while Cody Higgins earned the start and took the loss for CSU, his first loss of the season. Higgins went 4.1 innings and gave up six runs on six hits and struck out two.

CCU pitcher John Mariotti had a no-hitter going through six innings as the Bucs continued to struggle offensively. All three hits would come in the seventh, as the Bucs loaded the bases but couldn’t’ score.

After scoring three in the bottom of the first, Coastal would homer in the fourth and fifth innings to add to their lead, including a 2-run shot by Chris Rabor in the fifth.

Derek Martin doubled in the sixth, coming around to score and make it a 7-0 game in favor of the Chanticleers. They would score a pair of runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth to take the 10-0 advantage over the Bucs.

CSU will host Taylor on Tuesday at Buccaneer Field with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
