Swindle Named to World Cup TeamNovember 5, 2007By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. - Fomer CSU pitcher, R.J. Swindle, has been named to the 2007 International Baseball Federation World Cup, which is scheduled for November 16-18 in Chinese Taipei.
Swindle earned Big South Freshman of the Year, and Big South Player of the Year honors while wearing the Blue and Gold for CSU.
In the World Cup, Swindle's Canadian team will be in Group B with Australia, Cuba, German, Korea, Netherlands, Thailand and Venezuela.
As part of their training, Team Canada scrimmaged the Perth Heat, winning all four games. Swindle saw action in game one, coming in late to pitch one inning, allowing two hits but no runs in a 2-1 victory. He also played in game three, pitching the seventh and eighth innings, striking out two and again, did not allow a run. |
