CLEMSON, S.C. – As expected, it was a solid start for the women’s track program as they headed to the upstate to compete in the Clemson Opener.

In the 60m dash, freshman Misha Morris won her preliminary race with a 7.63-second time. Sophomore Jessica Thomas ran 7.66 seconds, shaving .03 seconds off her personal best, and won her preliminary race as well. Both earned a spot in the finals with Morris earning the fourth-seed, and Thomas the fifth. Also competing in the event was freshman Canchettar Delamar, who had never competed in indoor track. Delamar ran 7.86 to finished third in her race.

Senior Kim Allen led the way in the 60m hurdles, running 8.99 seconds to qualify for the finals. Joining her will be junior Chidi Walsh, who ran 9.19 seconds. Freshman Alisha Bennet started her CSU career well, running 9.26 seconds, but just missed the cut for the finals.

In the field events, it was senior Jocelyn Davis who led the way with a fifth-place finish in the 20-pound weight throw. Davis heaved it 50-feet, 9.25 inches, while junior Marie Doan finished 10th with a mark of 40-feet, 6.75 inches.

The Lady Bucs will continue Saturday in the finals of the 60m dash, and 60m hurdles. CSU will also compete in the shot put, triple jump, 200m dash, 400m dash and 4X400m relay events.
