Former Buccaneer Linebacker Joins AF2's RenegadesFebruary 15, 2008Courtesy AF2.com The arenafootball2s (af2) Lubbock Renegades strengthened their defense with the assignment of lineman Xavier Lawson-Kennedy and fullback/linebacker Anthony Moore to the Renegades 2008 roster by the af2. Xavier fell into our lap, said Renegades Head Coach Rodney Blackshear. He attends the same church as Defensive Coordinator Robert Hall. His experience in the Big 12 and in mini-camp with the New York Jets makes him a great addition to our team. Anthony is a true defensive athlete that can play linebacker or end, and his pass rushing abilities are his strong points. Moore also turns pro following a college career coming to an end in 2006. The 64 242-pound native of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina spent four seasons (2003-2006) at Charleston Southern. He combined for 107 tackles (36 solo) and four sacks in 37 games over his college career. At the middle linebacker spot, he recorded three pass breakups, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. His best season came as a sophomore in 2004, recording 42 tackles (13 solo) and two sacks. He served as a two-sport star at Wando High School, receiving honors in football and basketball. Lawson-Kennedy, a native of Duncanville, Texas joins the Renegades seeking his first action of af2 play. He played at Oklahoma State University from 2003 2006 and spent time last season in mini-camp with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. At OSU, the 63 333-pound lineman appeared in 45 games and combined for 36 tackles (23 solo) and six tackles for a loss. He was heavily recruited by OSU after a stellar high school career at Duncanville High School. He claimed All-State honors and was selected as a USA Today All-American following a senior season in which he racked up 120 tackles. The addition of Lawson-Kennedy and Moore places the Renegades with 16 players on the 2008 roster, joining Jake Bauer (K), Jerome Braziel (DB), LeJuan Edwards (WR/DB), Chad Jackson (WR/DB), Marquis Johnson (WR), Wali Mumin (DB), Alex Otoo (DB), Elliot Powell (DB), Ronald Redmond (OL/DL), Justin Robinson (DB), Moqut Ruffins (OL/DL), Ty Sellers (QB), Fred Weinke (FB/LB), and Corey White (DB). The Renegades are now preparing for the 2008 season and their second in the af2.
