Softball players cited for involvement in campus eventOctober 21, 2003By CSU Sports Information
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern University softball players Kelly Backert and Jennifer Foster were recently cited by the school's psychology department for their involvement and participation in conducting National Depression Screening Day on the campus.
Backert and Foster, both senior psychology majors at Charleston Southern, were two key planners and organizers of the event. The event invited CSU students to participate in free screening for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. More than 120 students participated and 49 students chose to have on-the-spot interviews with a professional counselor.
"These hard-working young women rose to the challenge and were instrumental in the success we experienced," said Robert E. Ratliff, Assistant Dean for Counseling and Disability Services at CSU. "I believe co-sponsored events that transcend departmental boundaries help foster increased understanding and cooperation among students, faculty and staff." |
