Bucs win Offensive Player of Week, Freshman of the Week awardsOctober 26, 2003courtesy Big South Conference CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference handed out its weekly awards Monday. VMI's Derik Screen took top defensive weekly honors, while CSU's Aaron Dunklin and Jonna Lee earned the Offensive and Freshman awards, respectively. Coastal Carolina's Josh Hoke snagged Special Teams Player of the Week honors as well.
Dunklin had nine receptions to tally 179 yards against North Greenville. He scored two touchdowns in his best offensive output of the season, with the longest being a 45-yard touchdown catch. He also had nine catches against Tusculum, but the 179 bests his earlier season high of 139 against West Virginia State. Saturday also was the second time this season Dunklin has tallied two receiving touchdowns, as he scored twice against West Virginia State also. This is Dunklin's second weekly honor.
Lee posted a career-high 14 tackles agaisnt North Greenville. The freshman linebacker, who has earned the Freshman of the Week award twice before this season, also had 1.5 tackles for loss (-3 yards) in loss to North Greenville. Lee had nine solo stops and five tackle assists in the effort.
Two other Buccaneers have claimed POW or FOW awards this season: Collin Drafts vs. Presbyterian, and Robert Adams vs. West Virginia State. |
