Men Prove Part of Top Tier; Women's Relay Sets School MarkApril 4, 2008By CSU Sports Information GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Charleston Southern men’s track and field team proved quickly that they belong among the nation’s best, Friday as they took part in day one of the Florida Relays. Led by a runner-up finish in the 4X200m relay, the Bucs claimed four top-10 finishes on Friday afternoon. Despite not having run the event yet this year, Levi Brooks, Michael Rhue, Alonzo Spurley and Cornelius Tyler combined to run 1:24.20 to finish second to Florida. Rhue continued his dominance in the 400m dash, finishing third overall, posting the second-best collegiate time of 46.51 seconds. Levi Brooks had the ninth best time overall, and sixth-best collegiate finish, clocking in at 47.05 seconds. In the field events, it was Jean Pierre Poisson, who claimed fifth in the discus, tossing it 42.61m (139-9), his second-best distance this season. Action will continue from Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday.
