By CSU Sports Information

CHARLESTON, SC - Spirits are running high around the Charleston Southern University campus as Homecoming Weekend 2003 approaches. Highlighting the weekend will be home games in volleyball, women's soccer and football.

The big weekend kicks off on Thursday evening at the campus bonfire and pep rally, beginning at 6:15 p.m. Athletes and coaches from all of the fall sports will address the student body and CSU's pep band will be on hand for entertainment.

CSU's volleyball team kicks off the athletic competition on Friday night as they host Big South Conference rival UNC Asheville in the field house at 7:00. Coach Danyel Bellush's squad is having their best season in eight years, sporting a 14-12 record heading into the contest.

CSU's annual homecoming parade, complete with decorated cars, trucks and athletic vehicles, will begin at 10:00 on Saturday morning. Just as the parade ends, the volleyball team will be hosting Birmingham Southern at 11:00 in the field house.

Kickoff for CSU's football game with Liberty University is at noon. The game will be televised by The Football Network with coverage spanning seven states. This will be the first-ever network televised sporting event on the campus of Charleston Southern as the Buccaneers take on the Flames looking for their first-ever Big South Conference victory.

CSU's women's soccer team takes to the field on Saturday afternoon, hosting Coastal Carolina at 3:00 p.m. It will be CSU's final regular season game with the team's seniors being recognized prior to the game.
