BELTON – Just days before hosting their first-ever Intense Football League playoff game at the Bell County Expo Center, the CenTex Barracudas already had plenty to celebrate.

CenTex led the league by sending nine players to the IFL All-Star game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 29 at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, La. Included in the list is former CSU offensive lineman Matt Hoisington.

The undefeated, defending champion Louisiana Swashbucklers placed seven players on the team, followed by Corpus Christi, Odessa, Alaska, Katy and Frisco with six each.

Heading the list of Barracudas on the team, former Texas Longhorn James Brown has been selected to be the starting quarterback for the West team. Other CenTex players selected were wide receiver Olan Coleman, fullback David Banks, offensive linemen Yancy Boatner and Matt Hoisington, defensive lineman John Machado, linebacker and Ellison graduate J.R. Turner, defensive back Roderick Knight and place-kicker and Copperas Cove graduate Lance Garner.

"I still feel like we had more players that deserved to be on that team. But overall, I'm pleased," said first-year CenTex head coach Chris Duliban, who will also coach the West team.

For the first time in the five-year history of the IFL, the league will be playing a true all-star game by establishing an East vs. West contest. In the past, the league champion hosted the game and played a team of all-stars from the rest of the teams.

The all-star players were selected based on voting by the IFL head coaches.
