Practice Gets Underway in Heat of the DayJuly 31, 2008By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. The Buccaneer coaching staff wasted no time trying to get the team acclimated to the heat and humidity of Charleston, holding their first practice at 3:30 p.m., Thursday. The first practice of the season only required helmets, but conditioning drills and testing were also involved in the July heat. Im glad we finally get a chance to get out on the field and do what we want to do which is coach football, said Mills, who enters his sixth season at the helm. If people had any idea the time and effort that goes in to just fielding a team and getting them on a practice field, they would be amazed. Charleston Southern starts their season on Thursday, Aug. 28 as they take on the Miami Hurricanes. The game will kickoff at 7:30 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPN360. We have a countdown clock in our locker room, continued Mills. It is hard to believe that it is less than a month away when it started at almost 200 days. We are motivated one day at a time and we are motivated by opportunities, and this is a great opportunity for us to be on a national stage.
