Burkett Named to AAABA TeamAugust 7, 2008By CSU Sports Information Tom Burkett |
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - CSU centerfielder Tom Burkett has been named to the Johnstown (Pa.) National All-American Amateur Baseball Association tournament team. The tournament will be held in Johnstown, Pa., beginning next week. Manager Rick Roberts was excited about the addition of Burkett, commenting that "He (Burkett) brings a powerful right-handed bat with speed. He batted .301 at Charleston Southern against Division I pitching, so he will be familiar with the type of pitching he’ll see in the tournament." The 2008 tournament will be the 65th of its kind, featuring 17-20 year-olds from east of the Mississippi River. Over the duration of the tournament, a number of Buccaneers have had the chance to play, including recent CSU Hall of Fame inductee John Rocco. B.J. Bellush, Jeremy Weber, and former CSU Head Coach Randy Mazey have also been a member of the Johnstown team.
