Women's Cross Country Claims Top GPA Honors at Scholar-Athlete BanquetOctober 31, 2008By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. - With an average GPA of 3.64, the women's cross country team took home the Highest Team GPA Award at Wednesday's CSU Scholar-Athlete Banquet. The banquet is held in honor of all CSU student-athletes who achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. "Competing in Division I athletics is a tremendous commitment for any college athlete," said Student-Athlete Success Director Christie Faircloth-Dixon. "But devoting long hours to your sport while excelling in the classroom simultaneously, is truly remarkable." The men's track team earned the most-improved team GPA award on the men's side, while it was the women's cross country team who earned the honor for the ladies. In addition to the three team awards, the top scholar-athlete from each team was also recognized. A full list of the top scholar-athletes can be found below.
