Bucs Drop to Cougars

CHARELSTON, SC- The Buccaneers took the field to face cross town rival College of Charleston on Wednesday afternoon dropping the contest 13-4.  The Cougars used their 13 runs on 16 hits to take the victory, while holding the Bucs to 4 runs on 9 hits. The loss evens the Bucs’ record to 7-7on the season and they contain their 2-1 conference record, while the Cougars advance to 11-2 on the season.

 

The Cougars’ Aaron Bouronich would take the win from the bullpen (2-0), while CSU’s Stew Brase would make his first collegiate start, but record the loss from the mound (0-1).

 

The Cougars would take and early lead and never looked back, taking a nine run lead in the first two innings.  The Bucs would put their first runs on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI from catcher Blake Hunt, driving home first basemen Nick Chinners.  Red-shirt sophomore Scotty Radabaugh would also record his first RBI of the game to bring home Hunt.  Radabaugh finished the game going 4-5 to lead the game in hits.

 

Holding the Cougars off in the top of the third, but allow one run in the three innings.  The Bucs would pull one closer in the bottom of the fourth inning on Radabaugh’s second RBI of the afternoon to bring home senior Kory Morian.  The Bucs would pull out one more run in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Tyler Thornburg.  Center fielder Tom Burkett would cross the plate for the Bucs last run.  The Cougars would score once more in the eighth for their final run of the game.  The Cougars would secure the game at 13-4.
