CHARLOTTE, NC - The Big South Conference today released its 2004 preseason baseball poll with Charleston Southern picked to finish fourth, behind league favorite Coastal Carolina, Winthrop and Birmingham Southern.
Charleston Southern received 88 total points but did not receive a vote for first or second place. The Bucs received seven third-place votes and 36 fourth-place votes. Coastal Carolina received 154 points and 10 first-place votes.
Following CSU are UNC Asheville, Liberty, VMI, High Point and Radford. The poll is voted on by the League's head baseball coaches and sports information directors.
CSU also was picked to finish fourth in a preseason ranking by Baseball America magazine. The Bucs open the 2004 season on February 13 with a three-game series at South Carolina.
