CHARLESTON, S.C. – The CSU women’s soccer program has added another name to its 2009 recruiting class, signing Morgann Wood out of Kentwood, Mich.
“We are really excited about signing a defender of her caliber so late in the recruiting process,” said Head Coach Eric Terrill. “We feel that she will make an immediate impact in our program.”
Wood is finishing her senior year playing for Coach John Conlon at East Kentwood HS, one of the premier high school programs in the state. The 5-8 defender earned all-district honors in the spring of 2008. Wood is also a member of the Grand Rapids Junior Crew, one of the best club teams in western Michigan. She is also a member of the club ice hockey team that came in as the runners-up in the Michigan State Championships.
Wood is the third player in the class to come from Michigan, joining Rebecca Hollstegge (Shelby Township) and Madison Forsyth (Macomb Township) who signed with CSU in February.
CSU will open up the 2009 campaign with a scrimmage against Georgia Southern on Aug. 22, before a pair of home games against Alabama State (Aug. 28) and USC Upstate (Sept. 1) kickoff the regular season.
