Jacobi Wins State and USA ChampionshipJuly 27, 2009By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern Director of Strength and Conditioning Tobias Jacobi has proven this summer that he can not only teach others how to reach their potential, but he can still do it himself. Jacobi competed in a pair of World Natural Powerlifting Federation meets this summer, breaking numerous personal and state records en route to wining his weight class. At the WNPF South Carolina State Meet on May 2, Jacobi won the super heavyweight division, despite being one of the smallest competitors in the weight class. He was also named the best overall lifter after breaking four state records and qualifying for the national championships. His performances in the bench press (400 pounds), dead lift (610 pounds) and squat (825 pounds) were all records, and combined to break the S.C. record for total weight lifted at 1,835 pounds. Jacobi then went on to the WNPF USA Championships in Atlanta, Ga., on July 19, setting two additional personal records, upping his South Carolina records in the process. With a bench press of 430 pounds and a squat of 830 pounds, Jacobi was again named the top lifter in his weight class, and qualified for the world championships. He is currently ranked second overall in the super heavyweight class by the WNPF.
