2009 Football Media Day RecapAugust 14, 2009By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coach Jay Mills, his staff and players met with the media Friday as part of the school’s 2009 football media day. Mills continues to be optimistic about his 2009 squad but made sure he touched on the true motivation behind the team. “I am so thankful to be at a school like Charleston Southern that allows me to coach and also to share my faith,” said Mills. “We recently changed the vision of the school to be a school nationally recognized for integrating faith with learning, leading and serving, and the opportunity to play a team like Florida fits in very well with that mission.” As far as the team goes, a strong spring, coupled with reports of outstanding summer participation leads to an excitement around the program. “We had a great offseason,” continued Mills. “Really, we probably had the best offseason since I’ve been at CSU. The team has been very dedicated throughout the summer. We feel good that we have great talent on all sides of the ball and good depth at all positions.” Three weeks from tomorrow, CSU will kickoff the season at 7 p.m. against the top-ranked team in the country in the Florida Gators, providing a lot of opportunities for Mills’ team, as well as the university. “Not very many people have the opportunity to play for a program like Florida, so it is really special for us to give our players the chance to play against them,” said Mills. “Games like this have allowed us to upgrade all of the facilities as well. We are well on our way to building an athletic facility in the end zone that will provide new locker rooms for the football, and the track programs." |
