(www.BigSouthSports.com) – Charleston Southern senior Kelvin Day (London, England) and Coastal Carolina senior Aruka Felgueroso (Madrid, Spain) have been named the Choice Hotels Big South Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Week, respectively, for events played Oct. 15-21, it was announced today by the Conference office. Day finished as the runner-up at the CSU Fall Invitational (par 72, 6,964 yards) with a 3-over 219, one stroke from tying for medalist honors. He posted scores of 76-71-72 to lead the Buccaneers to the team title, and he was the top finisher among 29 Big South golfers in the event. Day recorded his top finish of the fall season and second top 10 placing in four events in 2009-10. Felgueroso won medalist honors at the CSU Wendy’s Invitational (par 71, 6,068 yards) with a 2-under 140 (74-66) for her fifth career win. Her 140 tied the school record for a 36-hole event, and she carded a school record round of 5-under 66, breaking the previous mark of 68 she shared with Ann Maness. Felgueroso led the Chanticleers to the team title as well, as Coastal Carolina finished with a school-record 36-hole total 586 – 19 shots ahead of runner-up College of Charleston. The Chants also broke a school record for lowest team round with a 1-over par 285 in the second round. |
