Lady Bucs finish fall season with 11th place result at PinehurstNovember 3, 2009Jordan-Higgins ties for 3rd individually CHARLESTON, S.C. – Led by a podium finish from Olivia Jordan-Higgins, the Charleston Southern women’s golf team finished 11th at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by College of Charleston. The Lady Buccaneers shot a score of 304 (+16) on the last day, finishing with a total score of 625 (+49) at Pinehurst #6, a par-72 track. The host College of Charleston won the event, with Jacksonville State’s Lucia Fernandez taking the individual title. Fernandez finished with a two-round score of even par 144. Jordan-Higgins shot 74 on Tuesday and finished two shots back of Fernandez, in a tie for 3rd place. CSU’s Amanda D'Ostroph shot a 74 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 155 (+11), tied for 28th. Madison Jeter finished tied for 50th, after her Tuesday 76 gave her a score of 161 (+17). Two shots back of Jeter, tied for 55th, was Katrin Rumpf, who shot an 80 on Tuesday. Rounding out the Lady Buc effort was Katelyn Bensch, whose Tuesday 82 gave her a score of 169 (+25), tied for 70th. The Lady Bucs improved by 17 shots over their Monday score. Four of the five CSU golfers improved on their scores from the first round. “I am very encouraged by the way we finished this tournament, and by our fall season overall,” said CSU Head Coach Kory Thompson. This tournament gives us the momentum we need as we prepare to compete for a Big South Championship in the spring.” With the fall season in the rearview mirror, CSU’s next tournament will be the Qdoba Collegiate Golf Tournament in Miami, Fla., to be held February 14-16, 2010.
