Postgame quotes from CSU vs. Presbyterian College

Postgame quotes from CSU Head Football Coach Jay Mills after his team's 46-32 victory over Presbyterian.

On how the five turnovers his defense forced impacted the game:
“Turnovers were one of those things that have hindered us all season long. One of the things we did last year in finishing strong was win the turnover battle, and we had not been doing that (this year). Last week was the first week that we won the turnover battle, and this week that was obviously a huge part of the ballgame. We took points off the board for them, and in one case, it directly resulted in points for us.”

On the challenges the offense overcame to score 46 points:
“I thought Presbyterian did a good job of defending us. They had a unique scheme that caused us a little bit of confusion at times, but our young men played very hard, and I think people saw that our team was only a few plays away from some more of these games going our way. I really was proud of our guys offensively, making plays and stepping up.”

On the play from the quarterback position:
“(We were) led by A.J. Toscano, first of all taking care of the ball, and then he ended up with four touchdown passes as well.”

On the fine day by Gerald Stevenson:
“Gerald did a great job today. We always try to get the ball in his hands, whether it be in the pass game or the run game. Sometimes it works like we call it, and sometimes it gets taken away to a certain extent, but he’s definitely a weapon.”

On how his team plans to celebrate the win:
“We take it one game at a time. We tell our guys to enjoy this game. We’re going to enjoy it, and we’re going to get back to work on Monday, because we have some things we need to clean up.”

On having several players play on both sides of the ball in the game:
“I think the thing that’s so impressive about this group, and people don’t realize this, but we have so many movable parts, which we’ve used because of all of the bumps and bruises we’ve had along the way. We have some defensive guys stepping over and helping on offense and some offensive guys helping on defense. That’s the thing I love about this team, is their selfless nature. “
