Building Buccaneer Baseball Tournament and Alumni Game a SuccessNovember 13, 2009By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head Baseball Coach Stuart Lake and his staff would like to thank everyone who supported, and played in, the third annual Building Buccaneer Baseball Golf Tournament and alumni game. The following is a letter from Lake: Dear Alumni and Friends of CSU Baseball, What a great weekend our Building Buccaneer Baseball Golf Tournament and Alumni Game turned out to be thanks to all of you. Scott Ammon and his staff at Oak Pointe-Kiawah were fantastic and the course was awesome. We had 27 teams play in the 3rd Annual Tournament with our winners shooting an amazing 41 as a team. The winning team consisted of Mike Giunta, Mike Wilson, Pickle Claussen and Jamie Danford. The winners and the second-place team received customized bats created by Charleston Bat Company, a loyal supporter of CSU Baseball. Our longest drive of the day came from redshirt freshman pitcher Tim Flight and our closest to the pin winner was Steve Burkett. Steve is the brother of junior outfielder Tom Burkett. Congratulations to these two winners and they received customized CSU Baseball plaques from another great supporter T&T Sports. The golfers all enjoyed great sandwiches provided by Aramark Food before the tournament and afterwards by Jersey Mike’s as we announced prize winners and scores. Alumnus Gary Geiger provided all of the golfer’s water, courtesy of his company Country Clear Bottled Water. I want to thank all of our sponsors for making this tournament our best yet. Special thanks also goes out to our coaches, staff, players and parents for working so hard to gather players, gifts and sponsors. Thank you also to all the alumni who participated in the tournament and made the day very special for CSU Baseball. On Saturday morning we had our alumni baseball player gathering.
