CHARLESTON, SC - Centerfielder Jordan Haar had two hits and two RBI and junior left-hander R.J. Swindle picked up his first win of the season as Charleston Southern defeated Claflin University, 4-0, in a rain-shortened game at Buccaneer Field on Friday.

The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning with Charleston Southern leading, 4-0, due to rain and cold. The wind chill at the end of the game was 28 degrees with a steady drizzle falling throughout the contest. CSU improves to 3-4 overall this season while Claflin falls to 4-10.

Swindle (1-1) went six innings, allowing two hits and striking out four, in his best outing of the season. In addition to Haar's two singles, third baseman Brad Woods had two hits for CSU, which tallied six singles as a team.

Claflin starter Chaz Kenley took the loss, allowing four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. Kenley walked six and hit two batters.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at Buccaneer Field on Saturday, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
