CHARLESTON, S.C. – Postgame quotes from Head Coach Julie Goodenough are available after her team’s 95-55 win over Bluefield College on Tuesday.

On what improvements the team made tonight:
“I feel like we brought more defensive intensity tonight, and that will be a focus of ours for the rest of the season. We told our players that if they weren’t going to get into their stance and communicate on defense, then they could come watch the game on the bench.”

On the emphasis placed on rebounding:
“We also stressed rebounding and blocking out. That was one of our cardinal sins tonight; if a player gave up an offensive rebound, they had to come out of the game. We wanted them to realize that a little play may not matter in a game like this, but we won’t have many games like this one. We’ve got to prepare for those games that are decided on one or two possessions.”

On what her team was trying to accomplish in the later stages of the second half:
“We were just trying to execute some different set plays. Bluefield did a very good job picking us up in the backcourt. Sometimes we didn’t have enough time to run a play once we crossed half court, so toward the end of the game, we were just trying to run some set plays that we hadn’t executed yet.”

On the positive contributions of Katie Tull:
“Katie is such a good leader for us by her example. We’re hoping that her vocal leadership will cause other players to be more vocal on the floor. We know what to expect from Katie. Day in and day out, she’s going to bring energy and intensity.”
