CHARLOTTE, NC - Charleston Southern junior left-hander Brad Bissell was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon.
Bissell tossed a complete game gem in CSU's 16-0 win, allowing only five hits while striking out eight. The victory improved Bissell's mark to 4-5 on the season and helped CSU off to a 4-2 start in Big South play.
Aside from Bissell's sparkling effort, the Buccaneers have come alive at the plate in their last five games. First baseman Graham Maiden went 12-for-21 with eight RBIs over the last week, while senior catcher Scotty Thacker was 11-for-22 with seven RBIs offensively. Also during the last week, junior centerfielder Jordan Haar became the school's all-time homerun leader, belting his 30th career dinger with a grand slam against The Citadel.
Charleston Southern (15-17) returns to action on Wednesday night at The Citadel before a three-game Big South series at league leader Birmingham Southern this weekend. |
