Bucs Kickoff Year with Fall PicnicAugust 22, 2010By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – With everyone officially moved back on campus and classes starting Monday, Charleston Southern student-athletes gathered Sunday evening to celebrate, get to know each other and receive their student-athlete handbooks. After going through the line to pile their plates with Q’Doba, it was time to celebrate two Big South Championship programs from the 2009-10 school year. Women’s tennis was honored for their regular season title, while the women’s golf team was able to unveil the banner in the field house for their tournament championship. A quick game that placed the athletes in order by their birthday found that no day in the year had more than three athletes with the same birthday. From there, it was on to business, going over the handbook with expectations for the coaching staff, administration and student-athletes. The women’s soccer team started the season on Friday with a 3-0 victory over USC Upstate and will face the College of Charleston on Monday. The volleyball team will be the next to begin, taking on the N.C. Central tournament next weekend before football and cross country start their seasons on September 4. Watch the birthday icebreaker |
