LEXINGTON, VA - Junior third baseman Brad Woods delivered a two-run double with two outs in the top of the 10th inning to propel Charleston Southern to a 4-1 victory over VMI on Friday afternoon.
CSU starter R.J. Swindle went the distance, allowing six hits and one run in 10 innings, striking out 10 batters to improve to 6-4 on the season. The victory was the 22nd of his career, leaving him one short of tying the CSU career record for victories.
Woods ended up with two hits on the day, the only Buccaneer to record multiple hits. CSU ended up with 10 safeties on the day.
CSU improves to 18-24 overall and 5-8 in the Big South Conference. The victory snaps a six-game conference losing streak. The two teams meet again on Saturday and Sunday. |
