Mt. Pleasant, SC - A come from behind effort fell short on Tuesday night as the College of Charleston defeated Charleston Southern, 12-9, in non-conference baseball action at Patriot's Point.

After falling behind 6-1 early in the game, the Buccaneers rallied to take a 9-7 lead heading into the eighth inning. The Cougars, however, mounted a decisive rally of their own, scoring five runs with two outs in the eighth to take the victory.

CSU falls to 23-30 on the season while the Cougars improve to 40-11. The Cougars took three of four meetings with the Bucs this season while CSU finishes the eight-game rivalry with the College and The Citadel with a 4-4 mark this season.

Junior Brad Woods had the best game of his career in defeat, picking up four hits in six at bats, hitting two homeruns and finishing with three RBI. Woods now has seven homeruns on the season.

Junior Brian Sole went three-for-five with four RBI, including a three-run homer, his 12th, to give CSU an 8-6 lead in the sixth inning. Jordan Haar also homered, his 15th, for the Buccaneers.

Ian Holmen (4-5) took the loss for the Buccaneers, allowing five runs with two outs in the eighth. CSU committed four errors on the night, leading to a pair of unearned runs.

Charleston Southern wraps up the regular season this weekend at Radford in a three-game conference series. The Bucs then move on to the Big South Conference tournament next Wednesday.
