WINOOSKI, VT - Former Charleston Southern pitcher R.J. Swindle made his professional baseball debut on Monday night, allowing four hits and one run with five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of work for the Lowell Spinners.
Lowell, a short season class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, defeated the Vermont Expos, 11-2, for their second consecutive victory. Swindle was the starting pitcher and left the game in the fourth inning with the score tied at one.
Swindle, CSU's all-time winningest pitcher and career strikeout leader, was a 14th-round selection of the Red Sox three weeks ago. He is scheduled to make his second start on Saturday night.
"I'm in the regular starting rotation and they are limiting my pitches for a while," said Swindle. |
