CSU to Remember Will Bedenbaugh on Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The faculty, staff and students of Charleston Southern will remember baseball player Will Bedenbaugh with a memorial at Lightsey Chapel Auditorium on Wednesday. The service will start at 7 p.m.

“We are honored to celebrate Will’s life with his family on our campus with the service on Wednesday night,” said head baseball coach Stuart Lake. “The Bedenbaugh family has exemplified strength and faith in God’s plan throughout these events and will forever be a part of the CSU Baseball family. Their creation of The Will Bedenbaugh Memorial Fund allows the community to honor Will for years to come.”

Bedenbaugh was a redshirt freshman on the baseball team who was killed in a car accident last month while home in Prosperity, S.C., for winter break. A catcher/pitcher, he appeared in eight games with four starts before suffering a season-ending injury. He hit .167 with one home run against Virginia Commonwealth.

Bedenbaugh’s roommate and teammate Kyle Ward, along with fellow CSU baseball player Jaren Sustar, will deliver the eulogy. Team captains Nick Chinners and Tom Burkett will also speak, while Brantley Meier will offer the opening prayer. Coach Lake, who is also a family friend, will address the attendees as well. Bedenbaugh’s parents, Charles and Sherry, will be in attendance.

Shortly after his death, Bedenbaugh’s family created The Will Bedenbaugh Memorial Fund. They asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to benefit the CSU Baseball program. Friends can still contribute to the fund at:
