Indoor Track and Field Season Begins at Va. Tech Hokie InvitationalJanuary 19, 2011By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – The men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Blacksburg, Va., to kickoff the 2011 indoor season as they take part in the Hokie Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational has been a staple on the schedule for Charleston Southern, but will serve as the season-opener in 2011. Last season, CSU elected to compete in a pair of meets before the Christmas break, but this year chose to wait until after classes resumed to take to the track. In last year’s event, Andrew King had a busy but successful meet, running the second-best time in school history in the 5,000m (15:38.39), three seconds off the school record. That was just over 12 hours after running the mile in 4:29.76, four seconds off his own school record in the event. On the women’s side, the Lady Bucs had plenty of top-20 finishes, including a season-best 11.60m, 14th-place finish in the shot put by Tia Habersham. Adrienne Cuff finished 11th in the 5,000m, the first indoor meet of her career. More information about the meet can be found at the links below. CSU Meet Notes Meet Schedule Virginia Tech Website |
