Bucs to Host Paladins On TuesdayFebruary 21, 2011CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Bucs will look to take down the unbeaten Furman Paladins on Tuesday afternoon at CSU Ballpark in a 2 p.m. match up. The first fans to enter the park will receive free water bottles courtesy of Army ROTC. CSU vs. Furman The Bucs will meet the Paladins for the 46th time in program history on Tuesday. Furman has the clear advantage in the series at 28-17. However the Bucs took both games in 2010, winning at home 7-5 and also taking the win up in Greenville 9-8. Not Bad for a Rookie Brian Welch got saw his first career action this weekend and had quite the impressive rookie debut. Welch started his first career game and had two hits, one of which was a double, and a run in four at bats. The Macedonia, S.C., native also drove in two runs for his first career RBI. He started two of the three games versus UNF, but appeared in all three, finishing with a run two hits and two RBI in seven at bats. Chinners Closing In Senior first baseman Nick Chinners is coming close to entering the school record books. The capatin needs just two doubles to enter the school’s all-time list for career doubles. With one double vs. UNF, Chinners now has 39 in his career and needs just two to tie for fourth in school history. Bucs Pick Up Opening Weekend Win Despite a rocky start on Friday, the Bucs managed to pick up a win in their opening series when they defeated the Ospreys 2-1 in Saturday’s contest. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Bucs have won at least one game in their season opening series. Previously, they have gone 1-2 vs. Ohio, Marist and Virginia Commonwealth.
