Young Travels to NCAA's; Bucs Start Outdoor Season with Two MeetsMarch 9, 2011By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. - Despite the rich history on the track for CSU, up until last year the Bucs had never had a national indoor qualifier. That changed in 2010 when Javon Young and Cornelius Tyler each qualified for the meet. Now, the Bucs have gained entry into the meet for the second year in a row as Javon Young qualified in both the 60m and 200m dash events. Young is one of two athletes from the Big South Conference to earn a spot in the meet with Sam Chelanga of Liberty being the other. While Young is finishing up his indoor season, the rest of the Buccaneers will split between the Palmetto Classic, held in Mt. Pleasant, and the Coastal Carolina Invitational, hosted by CCU in Conway. The pair of meets will mark the official start of the outdoor season for Charleston Southern. A number of athletes on both the men’s and the women’s squads will be doubling up this weekend, and fans will get a chance to see a number of new faces on the men’s side with people competing in their first events in the Blue and Gold after not competing during the indoor season. A full list of entries for the meets this weekend can be found on page two of the meet notes.
