James Named Sporting News Preseason All-AmericanMay 31, 2011By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – After earning AP All-American second team honors last season, Charles James is already receiving preseason recognition for the upcoming year. Sporting News has named James a 2011 Preseason All-American corner back, it was announced Tuesday by Josh Buchanan’s Scouting.com website. In addition to AP All-American honors last year, James was a first-team All-Big South selection after leading the Big South and finishing third in the nation with six interceptions, tying the single-season record for CSU. Entering his junior season, James is just three shy of the career interceptions record. He set a new single game record against Liberty with three interceptions, earned CPFA Division I FCS honorable mention performer of the week honors twice, and was the Big South Defensive Player of the Week one time. He led the conference with 17 passes defended, six more than the second-place person.
