Mills, Bucs Meet with Media for 2011 CSU Football Media DayAugust 12, 2011by CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern University head football coach Jay Mills met with local media on Friday to talk about the upcoming season as part of the 2011 CSU Football Media Day. The event was held on at Whitfield Stadium Center. Mills spoke at length with several media members regarding the upcoming season. Among the topics touched upon were replacing the large class of departing seniors from 2010 as well as the progress of sophomore quarterback Malcolm Dixon. “It’s great to be a part of team CSU,” said Mills. “I appreciate Coach (Hank) Small and his leadership in the Athletic Department as well as the leadership of Dr. Rick Brewer and Dr. Jairy Hunter. We look forward to kicking off a new season. The 2011 season, my ninth, is one of the first times we will return a complete a staff so I’m very excited about that. It provides us with a great sense of leadership and maturity which is important because we enter the season with one of the youngest groups we’ve had. We have 39 redshirt or true freshmen this year and 18 sophomores, and the rest are upperclassmen. There’s a good youthfulness, but a good talent level as well.” One of the day’s highlights was Director of Athletics Hank Small’s announcement of the new football and track & field facility to be built this season. The ground-breaking ceremony will be held during the University’s Homecoming Weekend on October 1. The Buccaneers will host Wesley College at 1:30 p.m. that weekend. The official announcement regarding the new facility will occur on Monday, August 15. Coach Mills Interview Dixon Interview Kuzdale Interview Brown Interview McFatter Interview James Interview |
