CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern University Athletic Department announced the addition of Kevin O’Rourke as the radio play-by-play announcer for the 2011-12 season.
O’Rourke will call football and men’s basketball games for the Buccaneers. He will be accompanied by Jon Davis as a color analyst for the 2011 football season. He will also host the Coach Jay Mills Show on Tuesday evenings at the Wild Wing Café in North Charleston, as well as the Coach Barclay Radebaugh Show from Zaxby’s during the upcoming basketball season.
"It's been a whirlwind few days but I am really excited about the opportunity to broadcast football and men's basketball for Charleston Southern University, said O’Rourke. “The chance to be in Division I athletics in a location like Charleston, and at an institution like Charleston Southern, is a truly unique opening that I am eager to run with."
A 2010 graduate of Rutgers University, O’Rourke is currently the assistant director of media relations for the Charleston RiverDogs, the single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Prior to his arrival in Charleston, he was a broadcast intern for the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings where he provided play-by-play and color commentary. O’Rourke has also spent time at WRSU-FM, where did play-by-play and color commentary for Rutgers football, basketball and baseball games. He also co-hosted a weekly talk shot called “SportsKnight.”
