Murphy Named to Conference All-Academic Team

CHARLESTON, S.C.: Sophomore Maggie Murphy was named to the 2011 Big South Conference volleyball all-academic team as announced by the conference on Nov. 17.

A native of Marion, Iowa, Murphy is currently carrying a career GPA of 3.61, the highest on the Lady Bucs. Murphy is majoring in mathematics and education, with hopes of someday becoming a teacher. Murphy was named to the Charleston Southern University Dean’s list twice, first in the Fall of 2010 then again in the Spring of 2011. Murphy earned two CSU scholar athlete awards for the Fall of 2010 and the Spring of 2011. Murphy was also named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll in 2010-2011.

Murphy appeard in 43 sets for the Bucs this season, and totaled 37 digs and had the sixth most service aces on the team with seven.
