CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern Buccaneers (5-13) will look to overcome recent struggles when they host UPenn at CSU Ballpark in a three-game series this weekend. The Bucs and the Quakers will start things off with a doubleheader on Saturday morning with first pitch slated for 11:30 a.m. The two teams will also meet in a 1 p.m. match up on Sunday.

Saturday’s doubleheader will be the first ever meeting between the Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the University of Pennsylvania Quakers on the baseball diamond.
CSU vs. THE IVY LEAGUE
Though it may be CSU’s first meeting with Penn, the Buccaneers are familiar with the Ivy League, playing 12 previous contests vs. teams from the Ivy League. The Buccaneers hold the advantage, with an 8-6 record vs. conference, with at least one win over every team they have faced.

BUC BATS HEATING UP
The Buccaneers’ hitting has been heating up, as numerous players have entered the Big South rankings. OF Bobby Ison is third in the conference in hits with 26 and DH Chase Shelton is now sixth in the league in batting average, hitting .383 thus far. OF Brian Welch and Shelton are seventh and eighth, respectively, in slugging percentage at .548 and .532. Shelton also ranks third with seven doubles on the season , while Welch is fourth with two triples.
