Nimley Nets Mid-Major All-American HonorsApril 11, 2012by CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern freshman guard Saah Nimley has been named to the 2012 College Insider Mid-Major Freshman All-America Team, it was announced yesterday. Nimley previously earned a spot on the Big South All-Freshman Team alongside fellow guard Arlon Harper. Nimley was one of only two Bucs to start all 31 games this past season, and teamed with Harper to form one of the better backcourts in the league as CSU posted a 19-win season for the first time since 1994-95. Nimley tallied 20 or more points six times on the year, including a career-high 24 against both VMI (December 3) and Winthrop (January 21). The 5-8 guard from Lawrenceville, Georgia finished the campaign second on the team in scoring at 13.5 ppg, and led the club in assists with 3.9 helpers per contest. Nimley was also critical in CSU’s 88-74 win over Liberty in the Big South Tournament Quarterfinals, hitting his first five shots en route to a game-high 19 points as the Bucs won a postseason game for the first time since 2006. 2012 COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA TEAM Name, Ht., School Lawrence Alexander, 6-2, North Dakota State Julius Brown, 5-10, Toledo Justin Burrell, 5-8, Holy Cross Johnny Dee, 6-0, San Diego Ben Dickinson, 6-9, Binghamton Quincy Ford, 6-8, Northeastern Trey Freeman, 6-2, Campbell Dylan Garrity, 6-2, Sacramento State Derrick Gordon, 6-2, Western Kentucky Juan'ya Green, 6-3, Niagara Ty Greene, 6-2, South Carolina Upstate Stephan Hicks, 6-5, Cal State Northridge Evan Hymes, 5-8, Siena Lucky Jones, 6-5, Robert Morris Roosevelt Jones, 6-4, Butler Chavaughn Lewis, 6-5, Marist Four McGlynn, 6-2, Vermont Shonn Miller, 6-7, Cornell Saah Nimley, 5-8, Charleston Southern Tahj Tate, 6-4, Delaware State Bernard Thompson, 6-3, Florida Gulf Coast Jarvis Threatt, 6-2, Delaware Seth Tuttle, 6-8, Northern Iowa Kyle Vinales, 6-1, Central Connecticut State Brad Waldow, 6-9, St. Mary's (Calif.) |
