Bucs Post Top Finishes at Chanticleer Classic April 14, 2012by CSU Sports Information CONWAY, S.C. – Mulern Jean and Jasmine King each picked up a win, while Deona Jones added a pair of second place finishes as the CSU women’s track team had another strong outing at the 2012 Chanticleer Classic at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., on Saturday. Jean took first place in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12:16, with teammate Deona Jones taking second with a time of 12:54. Jean also took second place in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 25:06. Mary Elliott took fifth place in the 400-meter event, finishing in 1:00.50. The Buccaneers went 1-2-3 in the 100-meter hurdles, as King claimed first in a time of 14.66. Rashida Dooling was second at 14.97 while Kerona Parnell ran a 15.61 to take third place. King also took third place in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:06.03. Eloisa Paredes was forth in the event, running a 1:07.56. King and Jean teamed with Gabrielle Houston and Brittney Greer to take first in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.68. Sequoya Casey competed in the high jump for the Buccaneers, taking fifth with a jump of 1.50 meters. She took third place in the long jump with a distance of 5.21 meters, finishing just behind Jones who took second with a jump of 5.48 meters. Jean also competed in the event, recording a jump of 4.71 meters. The meet served as a final tune up for the Buccaneers, who will head back to Conway next weekend for the 2012 Big South Conference Outdoor Championships on April 19-21.
