Bucs in Fourth After Day One of 2012 BSC T&F ChampionshipsApril 19, 2012by CSU Sports Information CONWAY, S.C. – Braxton Drummond and Zach Pociatek both had strong showings in the field events to lead the Charleston Southern men’s track and field team to a fourth-place ranking after one day of action at the 2012 Big South Conference Men’s Track & Field Championships, hosted by Coastal Carolina in Conway on Thursday. Drummond was the 2012 runner-up in the long jump, recording a distance of 7.29 meters to finish .03 meters behind champion Tyler Askew of Coastal Carolina. Drummond entered the meet with the Big South’s second-best performance of the season with a jump of 7.36 meters at the UNF Invite back in March. Pociatek took home a fourth-place finish at the hammer throw with a toss of 53.86 meters for a personal best. Teammate Richie German was 11th in the event, recording a throw of 49.60 meters. The trio will be back in action for the Buccaneers on Friday for the second session of the 2012 BSC Championships. Drummond is scheduled to compete in the high jump, while German will be back at it in the shot put. Drummond will also join teammates Javon Young and Rozzie Johnson in the 100-meter dash preliminaries. Live results for Friday’s session can be found here.
