Track & Field Heads to Atlanta This WeekendMay 10, 2012by CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. - After a successful outing at the 2012 Big South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships the CSU Track & Field teams head to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Georgia Tech Invite, held on Friday and Saturday at the George C. Griffin Track. The meet will start with the hammer throw at noon on Friday and will be followed by the javelin at 6 p.m. The men’s 110-meter hurdles trials will start the field events at 6 p.m. and will conclude with the 5,000-meter run at 9:30 p.m. Things will resume with the high jump at 11 a.m. Saturday morning and the 4 x 100 meter relay at 1 p.m. The 4 x 400-meter relay, the final event of the meet, is slated to start at 5:50 p.m. MEET NOTES Quick Hits • The Buccaneers swept the 200-meter dash at the 2012 Big South Conference Championships, with Performer of the Meet Javon Young taking first (20.82), followed by Rozzie Johnson in second (21.14) and Cornelius Tyler in third (21.44). • Young and Johnson returned to the podium for the 100-meter dash, taking first and second, and combined with Tyler and Dantwan Spreads for a title in the 4x400 relay. • Freshman Mulern Jean broke the meet, conference and track record in winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.45 to rank 14th in the east region and earn Freshman of the Years honors • Gabrielle Houston took second in the 100-meter dash, while Adrienne Cuff was the champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Daisy Whitaker also picked up a third place finish in the discus throw. |
