D'Ostroph Named to Capital One Academic All-America Team

CHARLESTON, S.C. – CSU golfer Amanda D'Ostroph was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-American Women's At-Large Team, it was announced on June 7. The honor comes just two weeks after D'Ostroph earned a spot on the Capital One/CoSIDA All-District Team for District IV as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Previously named the 2012 Big South Conference Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, D’Ostroph is impressive both on and off the course.  The Whispering Pines, N.C., native boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major and is a member of numerous honor societies, including Beta Beta Beta Biological honor society.    D’Ostroph is also a founding member of CSU’s Pre-Pharmacy Club and dedicates time volunteering with organizations like the Special Olympics.

On the course, D’Otroph ranked 10th in the Big South in 2012 to lead the Bucs with a scoring average of 77.24 through the regular season.  She picked up a second-place finish at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at the Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C., this past April, helping the Bucs to a fourth-place finish at the event.  D’Ostroph also helped the Buccaneers to a team title at the Spider Spring Break Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond, in March.  She finished up the season with a 20th-place finish at the 2012 Big South Conference Women’s Golf Tournament. 

D’Ostroph is joined on the All-District team by student-athletes from the University of Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida and Georgia State.  All honorees will now move to the national ballot.
