JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Buccaneers competed as part of session two of the 2012 NCAA East Preliminaries on Friday at Hodges Stadium Track & Field on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
Exploding out of the blocks, Javon Young suffered an injury mid-way through the 100-meter dash quarterfinals and was unable to finish the event. Young was also forced to withdraw from the 200-meter dash first round and will now rest up of the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Rozzie Johnson took 31st overall in the 200-meter dash quarterfinals, running a time of 21.26. Cornelius Tyler ran a 22.33, taking 44th in the event. The duo will join Young and Dantwan Spreads as part of the 4 x 100, which is slated to start 6 p.m. on Saturday.
“A little scary for us, seeing Javon like that,” says head coach Tim Langford. “However, we still had some solid performances. Now, we’ve going to put everything behind us and focus on the relay.”
