James Named to CFPA DB Watch ListJune 11, 2012by CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern redshirt senior cornerback Charles James received another accolade Monday when he was named to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Defensive Back Award Watch List. This marks the second consecutive season that James has earned the distinction from the largest awards organization in Division I College Football. James sits just one interception away from tying the CSU career record after a junior campaign which saw him named to the First Team All-Big South Defense. The Jacksonville, Florida native snagged a pair of interceptions and paced the 2011 Buccaneers with seven pass breakups and nine pass deflections, while finishing third on the unit with 66 tackles and 40 solo stops. James and the rest of the Bucs will look to open the season strong on September 1, when they travel to Johnson Hagood Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff with The Citadel. James is one of 38 players to be named to the Defensive Back Watch List, which can be found below. The only other Big South defensive back named to the prestigious list was Liberty’s Walt Aikens.
